New Business Opportunity

HAHA My partner in crime! Michelle and I have the same taste in vintage fashion. She does the accessories, I do the clothing!

I have been offered the opportunity to work with a boutique and design a line for them. I'm very excited about it and it makes me really want to open my own store! I hope I can sometime in the next year. Until then I hope that our new little venture does well because if so then it means I will get that much closer to my own store! I will get lots of exposure in the least. The grand opening is this weekend. Its a beautiful store, very modern and all the clothes are incredible! Its only the start because once we start on the line for next year it is going to be even better! Live in LA? Come check it out...Rozsa Couture on Ventura at DeSoto in Woodland Hills

Revamped and ready for action!

So if you recall my post from Sept 22, I mentioned some goals I wanted to accomplish and I'm checking in to say I'm doing pretty darn good! To start with, this is actually looking like a REAL blog now! Im averaging a post every two days the past three months which is amazing! Im seeing it get more hits, and a few followers. I have changed it around a few times, (please comment if you noticed) and I think that now it looks "clean" compared to before. Thats a little compromise against myself because i want to "spam" it with all kinds of junk but I also want readers even more so...I deleted a bunch and even ditched my logo.

I got my business cards made :

I re-bought my domain (after letting it expire), and I even bought the domain for my blog and a new domain for another business I want to try. Ooh...busy little chica ain't I ? Lets see.... I have been listing, tumbling, tweeting, and facebook spamming. Learning all about this online marketing stuff like SEO and Im feeling really accomplished lately.

I also purchased a new display rack today for only $10! At first I wasn't sure really, how well it would work, though I knew it would somehow. Once I got it home and set it up I was super excited and even came up with the idea to get some pieces of plywood cut the diameter of the circles (it comes apart) and with a hole cut in the center I could slip them onto the top of each "shelf" to give myself extra display space! WAIT!!! OMG, even better I could probably get clear ones made at tap plastics! OMG Im a genius and yes that idea came out of my brain literally as I wrote this. LOL

So I hope you feel proud of me. I know I do! Im getting there little by little. And hey for a one woman show, I think I'm super!

Sweet and Sassy

Its been a while since I've done any card making :( But I can gain loads of inspiration from Sweet and Sassy cards @Etsy. She has a good selection of cards, and tags for both personal and business. There's even special occasion cards, I especially like these:

Christmas is coming up and everyone needs cards to send out to family and friends. This 3 card set is so pretty you may not want to write in them! You can always use a piece of parchment to put a note on and place it inside the card, and hopefully the receiver will re-gift it! I know I would!

Wardrobe Remixx & Todays Treasures

I used to post my outfits to the wardrobe remix goup on flickr, but of course that was when I had a job and had something to dress up for. Now that I work from home I rarely wear any of my huge collection of vintage. But I have resolved that even if just running errands, I shall get dressed "proper", and start posting my outfits again. I was also inspired by Citizen Rosebuds outfit posts cuz she has killer outfits! Heres My outfit of the day

100% Thrifted
Dress by Peppers
Boots: Colin Stuart
Purse: Morris White

So I was all dressed up, wonder where I went? Well the thrift store of course! I got some new fabriics, and scored on some beautiful vintage patterns @39 cents each. I also stopped by Michaels and picked up some speedball inks for my screenprinting adventures. I've started a new company called Hollywood Hottees. I plan to use art from local artists and offer designs on recycled tshirts, as well as new shirts that are made from recycled materials.

Product review: I Yudu, Do Yu?

Yesterday was so exciting when my Yudu arrived earlier than expected! Being so busy with other things I dont know how I will find time to use it. But I popped the box open and set it all up. That in itself was a huge task since my studio is sort of in disarray still. LOL! So here's what it looks like all set up:

Now there are many pro's and cons to this machine and there seem to be a lot more cons though I'm not sure why. First there's the price, if you buy it direct from Yudu you will pay a whopping $379 although their infomercial lets you "try it " for 30 days for $30. Well thankfully I resisted that urge to order on the spot.

I opted to research a bit first. Having wanted to get started in screen printing for a long time, but thinking it would cost a fortune and take too much of my already precious space I had put that thought aside, until that sleepless night I saw the yudu ad.

I ended up buying mine from HSN for a deal price of $269 (and found out today that back in April it was $249, so its likely they will offer it at that price again ) Well you gotta love flex pay. The package includes 4 inks, 2 screens, 2 platens extra transparencies and emulsions. They also offer this as a base unit at JoAnns which was on sale last week for $169 and also at Michaels. Word to the wise coupons are not valid on the Yudu Machine. You can however use coupons for supplies. (just bought an extra screen today)

I had the chance to play with it and tried to set and burn my first screen which didnt go over too well on the first try, and led me to understand all the naysayers on this product. But quitters never win, so I just tried again. I will post more details on that in the next post.

Overall, I am very happy with my purchase. Yes the yudu may be just a oversized lightbox and others say you can buy regular screen print kits for about the same cost, but who wants all that bulky stuff taking up space? It has an ease of use once you are over the initial learning curve and if you really want to take it to the next level, there are much easier ways (not to mention CHEAPER) to go about making the most of your yudu. I will cover that as well over the next few posts. My vote is 3.5 stars
